About Jared Nels
Jared Nels is a singer-songwriter, guitarist, and yodeler originally from Des Moines, Iowa. He started playing guitar as a young child, sang in the Iowa Youth Chorus, and was a three-year All State Chorus singer in high school. In his early twenties he discovered a natural talent for yodeling, winning the Iowa State Fair yodeling contest multiple times and later yodeling his way onto Season 18 of American Idol. After earning his engineering degree, he moved to Santa Barbara, where he has spent the past several years performing throughout Central and Southern California. Known for his powerful vocals, quick and elegant guitar playing, and unique blend of yodeling across genres, Jared went full time with music in late 2023 and is currently working on his first album.
